Katie Young Hester, 77, passed away Friday, January 5, 2024, at her home.  She was born July 24, 1946, in Wake Co., NC..  She was a hairdresser for over 50 years and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Hester loved working in her yard.  Her greatest joy was decorating her house for every holiday and having her family around her. 

In addition to her parents, Bennie Clifton Young and Dora Maybell Catlett Young, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Hester, her daughter, Tina Morgan, and her brother, Benny Young.

She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Dixon (Matt), two sons, Donald Stafford, and Christopher Sandefur.  Also surviving her grandchildren, Jordan Dickerson (Brandon), Kris Stafford, Donald Scott Morgan, Taylor Jones (Christopher), and Christian Sandefur, and her five great-grandchildren, Brantley Jones, Beckham Jones, Brooklyn Jones, Atlas Dickerson, and Cleo Dickerson, as well as her sister, Margaret Young, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Fox & Weeks, Hodgson Chapel. 

A private family service will be held in Bonaventure Cemetery.
